Foretaste

So much for the glorious end to autumn referred to yesterday. Today the weather shifted to the other end of the spectrum, grey skies dumping plenty of rain, an indication of what is just around the corner as the seasons move on. It might feel somewhat miserable, but the countryside responds with gratitude as pasture and crops receive a much needed drenching. Outside, the usual sharp images of trees, flowers, and even houses take on an ethereal quality akin to an Impressionist painting when viewed through the rain spattered windows. All is softened, muted, and despite the subdued pallor still beautiful in its own right.
