The Calm after the Storm

Woke at six
roaring wind silenced
not a sound

We often refer to the calm before the storm, but rarely the one that settles after. What a joy to wake up this morning to peace and quiet, no windows and doors rattling, no whistling screaming wind bearing down on us from the mountain. The Antarctic blast has either moved further east or blown itself out. All that remains is to assess the damage.
