One of my favourite autumn pastimes is finding fungi, ferreting out the
hiding places of as many different species as possible. A couple of decent rain
events during March have made ground conditions ideal, for they are sprouting
up all over the place already. Some are small, shy and retiring, inhabiting dank
and dark places, while others have no qualms about showing off with their
attention seeking behaviour. Whatever their shape and size, I delight in the
infinite variety, and wait in hope for another fairy circle to pop up in my
backyard.
