We gaze in splendour, enraptured by the merry dance above us. Silhouetted
against the bright white clouds, a pair of wedge-tailed eagles weave and
circle, fending off harassment from the small fry who object to sharing their
airspace. Like a boat’s rudder, their wing tips and tail feathers move
imperceptibly, changing their direction, and the shift from soaring serenely to
earth-bound missile targeting a tasty morsel can be lightning fast. In total control, that immense power is concentrated, focused. All hail to
the king and queen of our patch of sky.
Majestic eagles
ride invisible thermals
silent, seductive
