No matter where you find yourself, big town, city, suburb or small
village, the plethora of cafes gives you no end of choice for seeking out the
best coffee, pastry, muffin or preferred snack. My favourite spot in Launceston
discovered some years ago is a bit out of the way, not in the centre of town,
overlooking St Georges Square, a tree lined park bang in the middle of houses
and shops. You can tell the clientele are mostly regulars, such is the easy
nature of service from the staff. Some are in and out quickly, while others
settle with a book or long chat with friends, checking out the artwork on the
walls, lulled by unobtrusive French music in the background, soaking up the
atmosphere in one of the tiniest cafes in town.
Lunch at Le Café
warm sunshine flooded windows
look out on the park
Decades old photos
Paris framed in black and white
on magenta walls
Comfort food, soul food
chicken, leek and camembert
sweet caramel slice
Friday afternoon
café crescendo ebbs, flows
unwind, satisfied
unwind, satisfied
